You’ve seen laddered bead bracelets before by now right? Here’s an example of one from the Crystal Bazaar store on Etsy.
I think it’s a beautiful way to display beads and I like how well the style it lends itself to wrap around jewelry. Our town used to have an amazing bead store where I could get beautiful agate like this but it just shut down! I’ll have to see what I can find online.
If you want to try out something like this, all you will need are beads of choice, leather or silk cord, some beading string and maybe a button or large bead to finish it off. It’s actually a pretty simple process once you get the hang of the wrapping pattern. What I like about this is that it’s so customizable. Bright tribal beads and leather cord would make this a fun piece to add to a festival ensemble, but switch out pearl beads and cream silk cord and you have a piece of elegant eveningwear.
The instructional I’m going to recommend for this project uses two different sizes of beads in a bracelet that is meant to wrap around four times so each layer alternates bead size. I think it’s a really neat effect.
The instructions are a PDF download that you can find on this website.
